A Jesus-centered family of sent servants.
Boundary Road Assembly started in the 1950’s but eventually faced challenges, and in 2010 the church was left with a handful of people. This led to the opportunity for a new church plant in the building on Boundary Road, between Burnaby and East Vancouver.
The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada approached Living Waters Church in Langley to send Brett Donald, one of their pastors, to lead this new church plant.
At first Brett & Natalie said no. They had dreamed about church planting as students, but the timing seemed wrong. God began to speak through conversations and prayer, giving Brett a vision for a church that prays and people who don’t just go to church, but are the church. Stepping out in faith and obedience, they began to gather people to join them on mission. A small team renovated the facility throughout the summer of 2010 and moved into the city that fall. God was faithful and provided in countless ways.
In 2011, Brett was released by Living Waters to be a full-time church planter. The C2C Network became a strategic parter as a core team was gathered to launch life communities and serve the city.
CityLights Church launched Sunday gatherings in September of 2013. In 2022 we began the process of recalibrating our approach. Our goal is to participate in gospel saturation in our region. Rather than the traditional "come and see" church model, our focus is equipping reproducing disciples who "grow and go". Read more about that here.

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."

CityLights isn’t about one location or light — as individuals scatter and Missional Communities multiply, we are all lights that point to Jesus. Our lives shine the light of Jesus to our city.
We are lights to the city. We are CityLights.
We are lights to the city. We are CityLights.
