Meet the CityLights staff and leadership...
Brett Donald | Pastor & Overseer
Brett & Natalie relocated from Langley to start this church. They both love the local church and are excited about what Jesus is doing in the city.
Brett has a BA in Religion from Summit Pacific College and a Masters in Christian Studies from Regent College. Before moving to the Lower Mainland for Bible college, he led a youth ministry in Kelowna. During college, he began serving as a youth pastor at Living Waters in Fort Langley and eventually became an associate pastor there.
Natalie spends her days raising the little Donalds, teaching piano, and leading CityLights kids & music. Brett & Natalie like spending time near the water, hanging out on the patio, laughing with their kids and a good game of Settlers.
Tim Brown | Facilities & Finance
Tim grew up in a family of eight and a few quick moves saw their family living in all four western provinces by the time he was eleven years old. In 2005 he moved back to BC to study at Trinity Western University, where he earned a Bachelors degree. Prior to that, he first trained to be a Missions Pilot at Prairie Bible Colleges' School of Mission Aviation.
His part-time role with CityLights is diverse: financial administration, facilities and maintenance. When Tim isn’t working for the church or at his own business, you can find him climbing a mountain, playing beach volleyball or Ultimate frisbee. Tim loves being a part of Jesus’ church and seeing God’s incredible grace touch lives in a way that leads to life surrender and transformation.
Jamie Owen | Communications & Creativity
Jamie was born in Ontario, but grew up in Abbotsford and calls BC home. She has a BA from SFU in Communications & Psychology, and when she’s not working for CityLights she spends her days doing event planning and communications for a local charity.
Her role with CityLights involves graphic design, communication, and coordinating the Sunday gathering. Jamie and her husband, Chris, live in a communal house with 4 guys and 2 cats. She loves creativity, community, and seeing people’s lives flourish as they walk with Jesus.
The CityLights Leadership Team is comprised of Life Community Leaders and Church Directors. The goal of the Leadership Team is to grow in Jesus-centred maturity and live a life worth imitating — a life that leads and immerses others into living out our identity and being true to our purpose.
Because CityLights is a new local church, oversight and accountability is given by a team of external leaders. The Task Force serves as the Council of CityLights and is comprised of mature Christian leaders. This team exists to protect, guide, affirm, and give wisdom. The Task Force will continue to serve until local overseers are raised up and qualified.
